BEREA, OH (WOIO) - Berea is trying to bounce back from the storm.
Berea is in the same boat as many communities, still in the dark and trying to cleanup the damage.
More than a thousand households are still without juice Thursday evening.
Carol Betts is one of dozens of people taking advantage of services at the Berea Rec Center, that is now staying open until 11 p.m. so people can take a shower and stay warm.
Betts decided to check her e-mail.
"I got the notice on my cell phone from the code red and saying this was available and I thought it's got to be a lot warmer than my house," said Betts.
Berea Mayor Cyril Kleem is also in the dark along with City Hall.
Officials left fliers at residents homes who don't have power, letting them know about shelters the Red Cross set up.
Mayor Kleem is among several volunteers helping to transport people to those sites.
"There are a lot of people you see helping other people providing transportation, providing meals, providing places to stay and certainly that keeps a lot of people going," said Mayor Kleem.
Betts, says one thing is on her mind, "I want power as soon as possible!"
