Orrville Police Department adds new K9 officer

WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A new member was just added to the Orrville Police Department.

K-9 Officer Freddie is currently in a training program until December 12th. The 16-month-old German Shepard was born in Europe and brought to America to specifically work as a police K-9.

Officer Mike Smith will be Freddie's handler.

The Orrville Police Department obtained Freddie from Gold Shield Canine Training in Columbus. The agency also trains Ohio State Patrol and Columbus Police Department dogs and also provides dogs for the U.S. Navy seals.
