AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) - Avon Lake Police and Fire were called to Deer Run Lane Tuesday afternoon for a child that had been struck by a car.
Police say when they responded, they found a 9-year-old laying in the roadway with serious injuries.
Avon Lake Fire and Paramedics attended to the boy and transported him to the fire department where he was then Lifeflighted to MetroHealth Medical Center.
Witnesses say the boy was playing with other kids near the crash scene when he chased a ball that had gone into the roadway.
A northbound vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Avon Lake resident struck him.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
"We all wish him the best and hope you can pray for him," says neighbor Sean Ludwig.
