COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - An investigation is underway after an assault at a Summit County polling place.
It happened Tuesday around 8 a.m. at the Coventry Township polling location on Portage Lakes Drive.
The victim was displaying political signs when a man started shouting obscenities at him from inside his vehicle. The victim informed the driver he was more than 100 feet from the door of the polling location, and therefore within his legal right to post political signs.
The driver, identified as 58-year-old John Pegley, allegedly continued to shout at the victim and eventually threw a cup of coffee in the victim's face.
Pegley was issued a summons for assault.
