Worker accused of sexual battery against teens at behavioral health center

PEPPER PIKE, OH (WOIO) - Police have arrested a man who is accused of abusing his position at a facility for troubled kids.

Brian Chambliss, 24, was arrested Sunday.  He's facing sexual battery charges involving two teen girls and police say it happened at Beech Brook in Pepper Pike.

Police say the two teens, ages 14 and 15, went to staff Nov. 2 claiming Chambliss did something sexual to them in their bedrooms.  The instances, according to the girls' report, happened on separate occasions.

According to its website, Beech Brook is a behavioral facility that's been operating for 160 years.

Recently, we learned that one of our staff members may have engaged in inappropriate behavior with two teens in our care. We immediately notified Children Services and the police and placed the employee on leave. We also notified the families and took active steps to support the girls. An internal investigation is underway, and we are cooperating fully with the police and the county investigations.

The employee, Brian Chambliss, has worked at Beech Brook since March 2011. The background check we conducted before he was hired did not indicate any concerns.

Because this matter is now in the hands of the authorities, we are not able to discuss the details of these allegations.

Protecting the clients in our care is always our highest priority, and we are appalled that one of our employees may have taken advantage of his position to harm vulnerable children. We are carefully reviewing our policies and procedures in light of this incident to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect our clients.
