Cavs' Rookie Knocked Out With Concussion, Fractured Cheekbone

Cavaliers forward/center Tyler Zeller sustained a left cheek contusion with 5:39 remaining in the fourth quarter of Monday night's game in Los Angeles versus the Clippers. He did not return to play and X-rays taken at the Staples Center were negative. He traveled with the team to San Francisco following the game and was re-examined at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, where a CT Scan revealed a non-displaced fracture of his left orbital bone (cheek). Zeller also experienced a concussion as a result of the injury and has been placed in the NBA's concussion protocol process. He will continue to be monitored and evaluated, while a treatment plan is established in consultation with Cavaliers head team physician, Dr. Richard Parker, and Cleveland Clinic Sports Health. No specific timeline for his return to play has been established yet. Zeller is currently listed as Out for the Cavaliers' game tonight against the Warriors.
