Jeff Gordon was fined $100,000 and docked 25 points for intentionally wrecking Clint Bowyer at Sunday's race in Phoenix.
Gordon, who avoided a suspension, was also placed on probation through the end of the calendar year.
"I take responsibility for my actions on the racetrack," Gordon said in a statement. "I accept NASCAR's decision and look forward to ending the season on a high note at Homestead."
In a growing feud between Bowyer and Gordon, the two made contact with a few laps remaining. On the last lap, Gordon intentionally slowed down and wrecked Bowyer taking both out of the race.
After the wreck, the two teams started a brawl in the garage area, with Gordon apparently getting jumped from behind by one of Bowyer's team members.
The NASCAR season wraps up this weekend in Miami.
