Cleveland celebrates America Recycles Day

The City of Cleveland kicks off its annual America Recycles Round Up event Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16, 2012. The Cleveland Division of Waste Collection invites everyone to take advantage of extended hours for free document shredding and dropping off old household items and recyclables for City disposal.

Recyclables including plastics, aluminum/tin cans, glass jars/bottles as well as old computers, up to 10 tires with no rims and household hazardous materials excluding latex paint, can be dropped off at either of the two City service garages.

The City's Transfer Station at 3727 Ridge Road will accept drop-offs on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Carr Center at 5600 Carnegie Avenue will shred up to two bags or boxes of documents per person, as well as, recyclables and other house hold items on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday's hours are extended in recognition of America Recycles Day.

The City began free year-round document shredding Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carr Center in August 2012. The America Recycles Round Up event is held annually to celebrate, educate and bring awareness to the benefits of recycling.
