STREETSBORO, OH (WOIO) -

A hungry and heartless thief is still on the run after stealing hundreds of Thanksgiving meals meant for the needy.

The food was supposed to go to thirteen families.  It was enough to feed more than a hundred people.  "We promised the dinner to people and now it's not there," says Malinda Pearl Davis who runs the Streetsboro Christian Cupboard.

Davis showed up at the Streetsboro Valvoline Oil ready to pick up the Thanksgiving meals the business donates every year.

An employee told her someone else took the dinners that were stacked outside the door.  The thief, who made up a story to get the holiday meals, even had employees help load them into his car.

"This is a small community.  We all work together to provide and take care of each other and it's hurtful.  It's really hurtful," said Davis.

More than 350 families a month depend on the Streetsboro Christian Cupboard.  Those who look forward to the free Thanksgiving meals now may have to go somewhere else or go without.

"They're our neighbors in the community and they depend on us to do things.  We gotta find a way," says Davis.

Tuesday, 19 Action News with the help of Columbus Businessman Craig Sutherland delivered 13 fresh turkeys to help replace the stolen food.

Sutherland, originally from the Akron area, saw the story on our Facebook page and reached out to help.

Streetsboro Police have determined who took the dinners, and where they went.  However, the case is still under investigation and no determination has been made as to whether charges will be filed.

If you would like to help, please call the Streetsboro Christian Cupboard at (330) 626 -3244.
