Cleveland (WOIO) - Kent State linebacker C.J. Malauula was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week after intercepting a pass against Ohio and returning 33 yards for a touchdown.
He also forced a fumble that was returned 50 yards for a touchdown in the Golden Flashes 28-6 win on Friday. Malauula recorded seven tackles as well.

Offensive Player of the Week: Bowling Green RB John Pettigrew
Senior running back John Pettigrew (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) ran for 93 yards and one touchdown on a career-high 29 carries in the Falcons' 21-7 over Buffalo on Friday. Pettigrew added three catches for 31 yards, finishing the game with 124 yards from scrimmage.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Ohio K Matt Weller
Senior kicker Matt Weller (Twinsburg, Ohio) accounted for the Bobcats only points this past Friday at Kent State as he connected on a pair of field goals in a 28-6 loss. Weller's first field goal came from 33 yards out and his second was from 41 yards out. He also had three kickoffs for 178 yards and two touchbacks.
Offensive Player of the Week: Central Michigan RB Zurlon Tipton
Junior running back Zurlon Tipton (Detroit, Mich.) helped power the Chippewas past UMass, 42-21, on Friday as he rushed for 185 yards on 25 carries and four touchdowns. Tipton got stronger as the game went on, running for touchdowns of one, three, and nine yards before exploding for a 61-yarder in the fourth quarter. He also was Central Michigan's second leading receiver, catching two passes for 31 yards. Tipton has rushed for 1,391 yards in 2012, which ranks seventh in the Central Michigan single season charts. With 19 rushing touchdowns, he currently ranks fifth in the NCAA among running backs.
Defensive Player of the Week: Toledo LB Trent Voss
Freshman linebacker Trent Voss (Grand Rapids, Mich.) collected 12 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, an interception and two passes broken up in a 35-23 win over Akron last Tuesday. With the win, the Rockets improved to 9-3 overall on the year, 6-2 in conference play.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Northern Illinois KR Tommylee Lewis
Sophomore kick returner Tommylee Lewis (Riviera Beach, Fla.) scored on a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 49-7 win at Eastern Michigan. After Eastern Michigan scored to tie the game at seven, Tommylee Lewis answered with a 93-yard touchdown on the ensuing kickoff return and the Huskies never looked back. Lewis' kickoff return score was his first of the year and the third of his career as he claimed sole possession of the school record for career kickoff return touchdowns. The 93-yard return tied for the eighth longest in school history. Lewis added two catches for 15 yards and two rushes for 10 yards to total 118 all-purpose yards in the game.
