Suspect surrenders in deadly Maple Heights shooting

MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

The suspect wanted in a deadly shooting in Maple Heights has surrendered to police.

The shooting happened on Sunday at 2:30 a.m. on Rochelle Avenue.

Police units arrived and found a 26-year-old man shot and bleeding on the ground.  The victim, identified as Marlon T. Alexander Sr., was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

During a party a fight had broken out between numerous people and it escalated to the shooting.  Three adult males were taken into custody shortly after the shooting.  They have not yet been charged. 

Kelvin A. Mathis Jr., turned himself in Tuesday at the Maple Heights Police Department.  He was accompanied by his attorney.  Mathis was taken into custody without incident.  He will be arraigned on charges later this week.

The investigation is ongoing.
