The University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Injury Prevention Center's 13th annual Holiday Mocktail Party being held Thursday, November 29 at the Cleveland Marriott East.
As the lead agency for the Greater Cleveland Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition, the Rainbow Injury Prevention Center hosts the Mocktail Party as a kick off to the holiday season to encourage guests to celebrate responsibly and think ahead to reduce impaired driving, while giving party hosts tips for keeping their guests safe and delicious non-alcoholic cocktail recipes for the designated drivers and non drinkers on their guest lists.
Fifteen community partner agencies will mix, blend, shake and stir their mocktails for judges and nearly 500 guests in the hopes of taking home the "Best Mocktail" or "Crowd Pleaser" title, along with a year's worth of bragging rights.
The evening's mixologists include the team of Applebee's and the Westlake Police Department, along with Bellefaire Social Advocates for Youth (SAY), Broadview Heights Police Department, Cleveland Metroparks Rangers, Euclid Police Department, Garfield Heights Police Department, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Maple Heights Police Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Parma Police Department, Remington College Criminal Justice Department, Sonic Drive-In Mayfield Heights, UH Ahuja Medical Center, and the UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital Pediatric Trauma Center.
The Rainbow Injury Prevention Center and Greater Cleveland Safe Kids/Safe Communities Coalition recommend you do a few things if your holiday festivities will involve alcohol:
• plan ahead
• designate a driver
• call a cab if you do not have a sober driver
• stay at your home or a hotel if everyone in your group is going to be drinking
• call a friend or family member for a safe ride home
