16-year-old fatally wounded on Cleveland's east side

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the death of a 16-year-old male.

Today at approximately 6:00 pm, Fourth District officers arrived on the scene of the 3400 block of East 140th Street to find a young black male with multiple gunshot wounds including the neck.

EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.  The preliminary investigation reveals that witnesses saw the victim running from the shooter and after entering a nearby apartment building, the suspect followed him and then shot him multiple times.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the final cause of death. The Cleveland Police will continue the investigation.
