MAPLE HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Shaakira Dorsey was just sixteen years old, a softball player at Warrensville Hts High School, when she died in October after a fight with another girl.
Her mom, Stephanie Dorsey, works at the Hair+Fashion=Art Salon in Maple Hts and the salon is getting ready to hold a fundraiser to help with doctor bills and final expenses.
Lisa Gamble the salon owner says Shaakira was in the salon just about everyday visiting her mom. "She was very outgoing, very loving and her smile was amazing. I miss her, I miss her every day," Gamble said.
The fundraiser is Sunday Dec. 9th and stylists, barbers and nail technicians from all over the area will be at the salon donating their time to help the Dorsey family.
Fourteen stylists, six barbers and four technicians will each work four hour shifts from ten in the morning until ten at night.
"At the end of the day after everything that happens you still need love, still need support and that's what were doing this event for," Gamble said.
Shaakira's family is still struggling with her loss. Some help with the bills that have piled up will give them one less thing to worry about. "She's still missed in the shop," Gamble said, "I loved her just as well as I love my daughter."
Hair+Fashion=Art salon is located on Warrensville Center Road in Maple Hts.
