MENTOR, OH (WOIO) - A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after crashing his car into a Mentor home early Sunday morning while drunk.
It happened just before 3 a.m. on Comanche Trail.
Police say the driver, Daniel A. Vanderhoof, Jr. slammed into the home, trapping a three-year-old boy underneath his vehicle. An 18-month-old girl in her playpen also ended up pinned against a wall by the car.
A man and woman in the home were also injured.
All four victims were rushed to the hospital. Both children are currently in stable condition at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
The 31-year-old man is listed in stable condition at Metro, and the 30-year-old woman was treated and released from Lake West Hospital.
Vanderhoof, Jr. is being charged with four counts of aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving while under suspension, driving without a license, reckless operation, and leaving the scene of an accident.
He was in court on Thursday morning, and bond was set at $410,000.
It appears that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in this motor vehicle accident. This investigation is ongoing.
