Extra security at Ashtabula County schools 12/12/12

ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Extra security at Lakeside High School and Lakeside Junior High School Wednesday.

School officials say on November 30, a student found a note in the hallway of the high school, stating there would be violence on 12/12/12.

The student turned the note into the principal, who immediately contacted Ashtabula County Sheriffs deputies.

Tuesday evening, deputies searched both Lakeside High School and Lakeside Junior High School. After the searches, the schools were locked down for the night.

Wednesday, students could only come in through 2 entrances at either school and deputies were stationed at those entrances.

No weapons were found and nothing happened 12/12/12.

Deputies are still investigating who wrote the threatening note.

School officials say attendance was down Wednesday. 1400 students were absent, compared to the normal 293. Those numbers reflect student attendance district wide.
