LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the extreme neglect and abandonment of a pit bull-type dog in Lorain.
On Dec. 2, a severely neglected dog was found in the 800 block of W. 11th Street.
The emaciated dog weighed only 25 pounds when a dog his size should weigh three times that.
He was also suffering from a fractured skull and older injuries.
Officers believe that the dog had been caged, neglected and deserted. His eyes were severely swollen and forced shut, and he couldn't walk or stand up.
The dog has been named Herbie by the Lorain Animal Clinic, which is caring for him.
