PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Lake County Sheriff's deputies were called to McTaggarts Bar on Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township early Sunday morning for a report of a fight that had started in the bar.
The fighting escalated while deputies were en route and shots were fired.
As deputies arrived in the area, a vehicle was observed exiting the parking lot very quickly and heading east bound on Mentor Avenue.
The vehicle was stopped and deputies found a 25-year-old black male in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound. Painesville Township Rescue transported him to Tri-Point ER where he was Lifeflighted to MetroHealth Medical Center for non life-threatening wounds.
Another victim, a 21-year-old female, was also located on scene by deputies. The female had suffered a superficial gunshot would to her right leg. It appears at this point that the female was hit as the result of stray round from the male being shot. She was later treated and released from Tri-Point ER.
Witnesses named a black male as the shooter. They told deputies that the male had fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Various witnesses and involved parties were identified and interviewed. The crime scene was documented and investigated.
There are no other injuries to report and the incident remains under investigation.
