PAINESVILLE, OH (WOIO) - The man accused of murdering his elderly neighbor with the help of his mother, was sentenced Monday.
Lake County Common Pleas Judge Vincent Culotta sentenced Zach Weimer to 18 1/2 years in prison on the lesser crimes, to be served before Weimer starts serving his sentence of life in prison without parole on the aggravated murder charge. Judge Culotta sentenced Weimer this way, so he could never get out of prison.
Zach and his mother Danna murdered 77-year-old Eleanor Roberston this past June in her Canterbury Drive home in Madison Township.
Robertson was stabbed 94 times. Her house was ransacked of jewelry and other valuables, which were used to buy drugs. The house was also filled with candles in an effort to burn the property and cover the crime, but all the candles went out.
Danna was sentenced earlier this month to life in prison with parole eligibility after serving 44 years. Danna was also ordered to pay funeral expenses.
