Police seek suspect who robbed Family Dollar

PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - An investigation is underway after a robbery at the Painesville Township Family Dollar.

It happened at the Mentor Avenue store just before 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Deputies arrived within minutes, secured the business, and set up a perimeter where the suspect was believed to have fled on foot.

The two victims, store employees, claimed the suspect had threatened to cause harm to them if they did not give him money from the register. The victims complied with the suspect's demands and the suspect fled the business with an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect was last seen running south toward the rear of the business.

The suspect was described as being a white man, approximately 5'10" to 6' in height, approximately 200 to 250 lbs. in weight, with a red/brown colored beard, wearing a camouflage jacket with hoodie. No weapon was observed by the victims.

No one was harmed during the robbery

The robbery is currently under investigation by the Lake County Detective Bureau.
