Convicted church abuser pleads guilty again

A man who served several years in prison for abusing kids at a church, pleads guilty again.

Robert Owens pled guilty Tuesday to 2 counts of gross sexual imposition. Owens will be sentenced on January 7, 2013.

Owens abused children at the Hope Baptist Church in Linndale.

In 2008, Owens was sentenced to 4 years in prison. He was supposed to be released last month, until 2 new victims came forward. Tuesday's guilty plea was for those new victims.

The new victims are sisters. They were 9 and 11 at the time of sexual assaults.

"He was known as the candy man there," explains Sergeant Tim Franczak with the Linndale Police. "He would pass out candy, it was a common ritual that he would pass out candy to the kids and then ask for a hug."

"This was going to come out at some point. You can't hide evil forever. Evil is going to come to the surface," says Franczak.
