AKRON, OH (WOIO) - On a night many families are lighting candles in church for Christmas Eve services Barbara Wells and her family are lighting candles in her son Alex's backyard. It's the place he was shot and killed on Christmas a year ago.
"It's just hard to believe Christmas would come again and he not be here" said Barbara Wells.
This Christmas homicide on Hardesty Boulevard in Akron has gone unsolved.
Everyday since the thought of this tragic murder has consumed Barbara's thoughts. She, his ten kids and her entire family hope it haunts the killer too.
"Step up, man up take responsibility" said Kevin Wells, the victim's nephew.
Akron police have been working the case but so far there are no arrests. It's frustrating and devastating for the family. Barbara says her son Alex was a gift from God.
On this Christmas she wishes someone would call police with a tip that could lead to an arrest and justice for Alex.
"I will not rest until they are arrested" said Barbara Wells.
