Prison for the Cleveland man who robbed a couple in their own driveway.
40-year-old Willie White was sentenced to three years behind bars.
White's attorneys had reached a plea deal with prosecutors that spared him a much longer sentence. The deal was questioned aloud by Judge Daniel Gaul, who cited White's long criminal past, but said he had no choice but to impose the three year sentence.
On December 18, 2011, White, along with 36-year-old Tommie Golphin, robbed the husband and wife as they parked in their driveway on Nela View Road in Cleveland Heights.
The couple arrived home after working overnight and both suspects emerged from the backyard, armed with handguns. Golphin demanded money and began striking the husband with his gun. The wife began blowing the horn of their vehicle and the suspects fled on foot.
On November 29, 2012, Golphin pleaded guilty to one count of Robbery with firearm specifications and was subsequently sentenced to 7 years in prison. On that same day, White plead guilty to one count of Robbery.
