ODNR investigating dozens of dead waterfowl

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Division is investigating the deaths of dozens of waterfowl.

They received the report Wednesday of 25 Canada Geese and 8 Mallard Ducks that had been dumped along the South bank of the Chagrin River in the Cleveland Metroparks' South Chagrin Reservation in Bentleyville Village.  All of the animals appeared to have broken necks.

ODNR said they are not sure when the actual dumping occurred, but it appeared to have been recent.

There is no suspect information.  ODNR is pleading with the public to call if they saw anything suspicious along Chagrin River Road Tuesday or Wednesday, of if they've noticed any sick or injured waterfowl.  Anonymous tips can be made to 1-800-POACHER.
