MADISON, OH (WOIO) - Madison firefighters were called to a house explosion that rocked a neighborhood overnight on Parkview Drive.
The explosion happened around 12:22 a.m. at 1518 Parkview Drive.
People in the area reportedly felt it blocks away. Windows of neighboring houses were blown out from the force.
"I heard this enormous boom and a flash, and I got up. I looked to see what was going on. When I came downstairs, there was glass all over the living room," said Barbara Wickert, whose windows were destroyed.
The house had been abandoned since this summer when the owner died. Firefighters said the utilities to the house had not been shut off.
"The big concern was to make sure and get to the gas, and shut if off. We were able to get to the meter and shut it down," said Chief Gene Lutz of the Madison Fire Department.
Lutz said they expect to be there most of the day investigating.
No injuries were reported.
