Man shot in gas station parking lot, stemming from earlier altercation

Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting that happened at the Marathon Gas Station on Superior Avenue just before 3 a.m.

When officers arrived on scene they found one victim, Michael Rankins, 31 of Cleveland with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The shooting appears to be in connection with an argument that happened earlier at the Bullshooter Lounge.

The suspect, a black male in his 20s with a mustache and goatee, red coat with black sleeves, black pants and red and white tennis shoes, approached Rankins outside the entrance of the gas station and began arguing with him.

He then pulled out a gun and shot Rankins before fleeing.
