AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A friend of Anna's read a heartfelt message, "I miss you so much already. I love you so much best friend. I am in so much pain and have so much anger inside and I just want to give up."
Anna Karam is being remembered at her home in Akron after being murdered inside the house on Sunday morning. Police believe a friend, 24-year-old David Stoddard, shot her and also shot 19-year-old Jessica Halman.
What was the motive?
The vigil for Anna started about 6:30 p.m. and people gathered and brought flowers, teddy bears and also candles. They have developed a circle of love in memory of the 16-year-old.
Friends are telling 19 Action News Stoddard was looking to hurt his ex-girlfriend, and not Anna or Jessica.
Anna was babysitting and was shot as she tried to protect a 12-year-old when Stoddard entered the home through a sliding glass door.
She was also pregnant with her first child.
Another friend of the girls said, "It's sad she didn't get to see her child being born. It's just horrible."
Halman is still alive and being treated at Akron General. Anna's brother was stunned about his sister's death and had this to say, "It's not right. It's not right. My prayers go out to Jess Halman that she makes it through. Nothing was right about anything that happened."
