19 Action News sports reporter Mark Schwab has confirmed the Browns interviewed Marc Trestman for their head coaching job on Tuesday.
Trestman is currently the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. He does have NFL coaching experience, including two years in Cleveland in the late 1980's.
Trestman was the quarterbacks coach in 1988 and offensive coordinator in 1989. He is close with Browns legendary quarterback Bernie Kosar.
Trestman also interviewed with the Chicago Bears on Monday.
The Browns are also expected to interview Indianapolis offensive coordinator Bruce Arians this week. However, he was admitted back to the hospital to deal with an inner-ear infection on Tuesday. He is expected to be released on Wednesday, so his interview schedule is up in the air.
Arians took over the head coaching job with the Colts while Chuck Pagano was sidelined with leukemia and guided the team to nine wins.
Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher said on Tuesday he could return to the sidelines at some point. He has said he won't coach a team in the AFC North because of his ties with the Steelers.
You can cross Alabama's Nick Saban off the list of possible candidates. Saban coached the Crimson Tide to the national championship on Monday and said he is not interested in leaving the university.
