The Browns could have a top contender for the vacant general managers position.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Kansas City Chiefs director of pro personnel Ray Farmer has been interviewed at least once for the job.

Fox Sports Ohio reported on Thursday, the Browns talked with Farmer.  Other outlets reported an interview took place on Monday, which may have been a second interview.

During the process, many believe Mike Lombardi was a lock for the job.  However, he says he never has been contacted by the Browns about the opening.

At the end of the 2012 season, both head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert were fired by the new Browns regime, owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner.

The Browns hired Rob Chudzinski last Friday to be their head coach.
