BENTLEYVILLE VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) - New details in the deaths of dozens of waterfowl.
Earlier this month, 25 Canada Geese and 8 Mallard Ducks had been dumped along the South bank of the Chagrin River in the Cleveland Metroparks' South Chagrin Reservation in Bentleyville Village. All of the animals appeared to have broken necks.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources sent four of the waterfowl out to a lab for testing, and the results came back that those four had been shot. ODNR said it was impossible to tell when the shooting happened, because the animals were frozen when found.
There is no suspect information. ODNR is pleading with the public to call if they saw anything suspicious along Chagrin River Road. Anonymous tips can be made to 1-800-POACHER.
