Speed, recklessness possible factors in Lake County crash

Two people injured in a Lake County crash Thursday night.

The single car accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. in the area of N. Ridge Road in Perry Township.

The driver, 22-year-old Mark Lambert of Ashtabula, lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway on the south side.  His vehicle sheared a utility pole and then came to final rest approximately 60 feet later in a front yard.

The passenger, 28-year-old Trisha Thompson of Ashtabula, was transported from the scene by Perry Twp. FD to Madison Medical Campus where she was then flown out to Metro Health Medical Center.

Lambert remained trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means. Lambert was extricated from his vehicle approximately 45 minutes later and was transported to Madison Medical Campus, and then flown to Metro Health Medical Center.

Power throughout Perry Township was disrupted for several hours as Painesville City Utilities worked to raise the downed wires and erect a new utility pole.  N. Ridge Road remained closed to through traffic from Blackmore Road through Perry Park Road for approximately three hours while the scene was cleared and the power services were restored.

The accident remains under investigation.  However, investigation, as well as witness statements, show speed and reckless operation to have played a part in the accident.
