So often when there is a story about kids in foster care, it's when something bad has happened.
But one organization is out there doing something to help kids, at you can help too.
Adoption Network Cleveland held an orientation for its Permanency Champions Mentoring Program Saturday. It's for adults who have some spare time to offer guidance to older kids in foster care who need a positive role model in their lives.
Why is a Mentor Important to a Youth in Care? Preteens and teenagers are at the crux of preparing to enter adulthood, a time of increased responsibilities and confusion.
The goal of Adoption Network Cleveland is to find an adoptive family for each youth so he or she will feel a sense of belonging and permanency.
As a Permanency Champion mentor, you will not only be a source of encouragement and advocacy for a youth in care, but you can also be another voice to help a youth find an adoptive family.
