PARMA, OH (WOIO) -

A Parma family escaped a house fire Thursday morning, but their pets were not as fortunate.

Two of the family's three dogs were killed in the fire. The third dog managed to escape.

The fire erupted on the 7118 block of Maysday Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

A mother and her two sons were inside home. One son woke up to the smell of smoke on the second floor.

He alerted his family before jumping off the roof to safety. He was treated for a minor hand laceration.

The other son escaped through his bedroom window on the first floor.

The mother got out through the front door, and was later treated for smoke inhalation.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire, that was mostly in the kitchen, quickly. Officials access the damages to be approximately $60,000.

There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
