Cavaliers in better shape than the Magic

It's been a while since Cavs-Magic meant much. Hard to believe it was almost four years ago that you-know-who hit the buzzer-beater to stun the Magic in Game 2 at the "Q". Since then, the Magic have lost their superstar, The Cavs, of course, lost their superstar, and both teams are now buried back in the pack, about 20 games under .500. But that's where the similarities end.

I'd much rather be the Cavaliers right now than the Magic. While the Cavs have moved forward with young talent, led by the league's next superstar, Kyrie Irving, and are saving cap room space for a big move down the road, the Magic are mired in mediocrity, with no player averaging even 17 points/game, and one player, 33-year old Hedo Turkoglu, bogging 'em down by pulling down almost $12 mil/year, while giving 'em 2.9 points/game. They'll continue dumping salaries, but may be stuck with Turkoglu for one more year.

The Cavs, meanwhile, are a young team playing exciting (at times) basketball. They have a long way to go, but at least recently have started racking up wins, taking 6 of their past 9.

They should make it 7 out of 10 by taking care of the Magic on Friday night at the "Q". These aren't, after all, the old days.
