Honorable Judge Jean Murrell Capers - Cleveland 19 News Cleveland, OH

Honorable Judge Jean Murrell Capers

At 99 years of age, the Honorable Judge Jean Murrell Capers speaks about her life, her work, and the importance of using one's mind. Capers always dresses for success. She carries herself and her briefcase with dignity. Jean Murrell Capers drove herself to Texas and back at the age of 95, and just recently retired in 2011.

Judge Capers believes "history is just what you do every day."  She remembers many week days walking through what used to be Wade Park to Gordon Park and Rockefeller Park.  To her, those sections were representative of what Clevelanders and others around the nation found to be highly cultural and educational parts of this city.

Judge Jean Capers age has no boundaries. At age 62 she was appointed a Cleveland Municipal Court judge, and she was elected to a full term. Jean retired from the bench because of Ohio's age restriction for judges.
