OBERLIN, OH (WOIO) -

Classes at Oberlin College were canceled on Monday after several hate-related incidents.

Students say that for the past several months, there have been flyers posted around campus degrading African Americans and homosexuals.

Early Monday morning, there was a report of a person wearing a KKK outfit on campus. The incident remains under investigation.

There was anger and fear at a meeting on Oberlin College's campus over the images of hate that have been popping up for months now.

"Some faculty have had invitations to the new KKK delivered to their mailboxes,"  said Meredith Gadsby, a professor at the school.

One student reported running from a van full of people shouting racial slurs.

"There are moments of fear.  I think we all have moments of fear," said Chinwe Okona.

 Some blame Oberlin's administration.

"I think our presence is beneficial to the administration and the steps that could make us more comfortable as students are steps that fall on the back burner a lot of the time," added Okona.

Oberlin administrators say their college has a rich history of diversity.  Campus police along with local police are investigating who is responsible for these latest acts of bigotry.

Students and faculty are encouraged to participate in a series of events planned for Monday, March 4.
