Armed robber chased down by drive thru employee

AMHERST, OH (WOIO) -

A Lorain man charged after an armed robbery at an Amherst business.

It happened Sunday night shortly after 11:30 p.m. at the Junction Drive Thru on Milan Avenue. 

The suspect, armed with a knife, was pursued by an employee and was last seen running northbound across the railroad tracks. After crossing the railroad tracks, the suspect entered the residential area of the Apple Orchard Estates. The foot pursuit was seen by an off-duty police officer. The officer joined the pursuit, and managed to catch the suspect in a field behind the Faith Baptist Church on N. Lake Street.

The suspect is identified as Nicholas R. Thomas. He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The Amherst Detective Bureau is investigating whether this robbery and the Pure Gas Station Robbery are related.
