Akron Police are looking for named suspected shooter

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Shortly after 5:00pm on Thursday, April 18th, Tavares L. Skipper, 24, of Payne Avenue in Akron, reported he was shot while driving near the intersection of Hammel Street and Corice Street.

Althouh Skipper was shot in the right hand and left shoulder, he was able to drive to a store at Lovers Lane and Inman Street where he called the police.

Skipper stated he was shot following an argument that took place earlier in the day.

The victim was transported to Akron City Hospital and his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

The suspect has been identified as Cleophus Thompson Jr., 23, of Merton Avenue in Akron.

Detectives signed a warrant for felonious assault on Thompson. Thompson is a black male, 5'05" and 150 lbs. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
