OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) - Since the discovery of a badly decomposed body floating in a pond Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2013, the Olmsted Township police have worked with the County Medical Examiner's Office and State investigators to determine the still unidentified male.
Police say the victim died of multiple stab wounds.
After searching the pond and an unoccupied apartment adjacent to the pond police ruled that this is as an isolated crime. Olmsted Township Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are currently investigating.
The victim has been identified as an African American male approximately 20-40 years of age, 5'11"tall, approximately 142 pounds, black hair, and brown eyes.
When discovered, the victim was wearing a red-Betty-Boop Tank-Top, three black-bras, and a light black hooded jacket, he was nude from the waist down. It was determined the victim had a rope tied around his waist and knotted from behind. The rope was attached to a piece of concrete and steel pipe.
The Medical Examiner's Office and Olmsted Township Police Department are trying to positively identify the badly-decomposed victim through DNA Records, Missing Persons date base, and possible dental records.

What follows is a daily chronology of events:
Wednesday, April 17th, 2013, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Olmsted Township Police Department recovered an unidentified, badly decomposed body from a retention pond on Mackenzie Road in Olmsted Township. The unidentified body was initially discovered by a renter currently living in a two unit apartment adjacent to the pond. The other unit is currently vacant.
The crime scene was secured and the victim's body was removed by the Olmsted Township Fire/Medics, Metroparks Rangers Dive Team and SERT Dive Team. The victim's body was released to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office for identification and cause of death.
Thursday, April 18th, 2013, preliminary results by the Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was from numerous stab wounds. Olmsted Township Police secured two search warrants from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office for the retention pond and for the adjacent premises.
Both search warrants were executed on Thursday, April 18th, 2013. Divers (water recovery specialist) searched the retention pond using sonar and underwater metal detectors. At the inside the vacant garage apartment located on the premises, investigators recovered numerous items of interest possibly related to the crime.
Friday April 19th, 2013, currently investigators have not identified a person of interest.
