Ubaldo Jimenez did just enough on Sunday to keep his job, for now. It's no secret that the Indians are getting frustrated with the right hander. In his 17 starts prior to Sunday's he went 1-12 with an ERA of 7.27. He doesn't just lose, he gets crushed and takes the team out of games.
Sunday he responded with five innings, allowing four runs on four hits. He only walked one batter. Terry Francona, starved for innings from his starters, will take it.
With Brett Myers on the DL, Scott Kazmir an unknown and Carlos Carrasco useless because of a suspension, the Indians need everybody already in their rotation to get it together. Jimenez set down 14 straight at one point on Sunday. He actually threw some strikes. What a concept. Do it again in five days.
