Jets release Tim Tebow

The New York Jets released quarterback Tim Tebow after just one season in the Big Apple.

Tebow, who's played three seasons in the NFL, was the odd man out after the Jets drafted Geno Smith on Friday in the second round.

In 2012, Tebow was 6 of 8 passing for 39 yards.  He also ran for 102 yards.

Tebow helped the Denver Broncos reach the playoffs in 2011, his second in the league.

Teams can put a claim on Tebow until 4 P.M. on Tuesday.  If no one claims Tebow, he will become a free agent, allowing any team to sign him.

In case no team signs Tebow, the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League hold his rights.
