TALLMADGE, OH (WOIO) - An allegation of sexual assault has been made against a family member of a Tallmadge Police officer.
19 Action News has learned a 15 year old girl walked into the Tallmadge Police Dept. with her mother on Monday and told investigators she was raped at a house over the weekend.
Tallmadge Police quickly realized the rape allegation involved a relative of one of their officers.
"An allegation has been made against a family member of one of our Officers. We have referred the matter to the Sheriff Dept to conduct a criminal investigation," said Lt. Ron Williams.
Sources tell 19 Action News reporter Scott Taylor students from Tallmadge High School were at the house party that started Friday night and lasted into Saturday morning.
We paid the High School a visit after hearing claims that students were told not to talk about the house party.
Our Scott Taylor asked Principal Rebecca DeCapua if she told students not to talk about the house party where there is an allegation that a girl was raped.
Principal Rebecca Decapua of Tallmadge High didn't answer the question and walked inside the office.
No one has been charged in connection with the complaint filed by the teen.
Due to a conflict of interest, the Summit County Sheriff's Department will handle the investigation.
