SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Two local companies are coming under fire for the death of a popular make-up artist.
A civil lawsuit has just been filed over the death of Sharon Norfus.
Last spring, she was raped, robbed and murdered in her apartment at the Oliver House complex in Shaker Hts. Now her family is suing the K and D Group, the complex owner and a major local landlord. plus, Cleveland Metro Security.
William Hammons is facing charges for the attack, but the lawsuit says a security guard had been letting him go through the building.
The suit accuses Metro Security guard Dominique Starks of "incompetence". It says she'd become friends with William Hammons, knew he was a convicted felon, yet let him through the building unescorted and more.
Attorney Steven Goldberg told 19 Action News, "There's a duty. The duty falls to the apartment complexes and that is providing adequate security."
Attorney David Malik added, "The company needed to do a better job of screening the security company, and the security company needed to do a better job of meeting national standards."
The K and D Group and Metro Security are not commenting.
