Luol Deng will not play in game one of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals as he continues to battle back from a spine injury. Deng missed the final two games of the Bulls' series against Brooklyn because of the flu and did not make the trip to Miami.
It is not known when he will rejoin the team. Deng was admitted back into the hospital on Sunday but has since been discharged. "He had a spinal tap so he's been sick," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Still not feeling as well as he would like so he's gone back to the hospital to get tested more, more treatment. I spoke to him this morning. He's feeling a little better."
Derek Rose is not ruling out a return to the team for the series. He has been out since blowing out his knee in the playoffs last season. Thibodeau has ruled him out for Game 1 on Monday night. Rose has been scrimmaging and playing 5-on-5, he's been medically cleared to play for two months, but he's maintained that he does not feel ready to play.
