5 Olmsted Falls High School students injured in a car accident


Ohio Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a serious car accident that injured five Olmsted Falls High School students.

The crash that occurred on Monday at 9:14 p.m. on Grafton Road just west of Marks Road in Liverpool Township, Medina County.

The crash occurred when a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Alexander J. Stipek, 17, of Olmsted Township, was going eastbound on Grafton Road attempting to pass a 1956 Chevy driven by John A. Lopiecolo Sr., 66, of Brunswick, who was also traveling eastbound.

The area the pass occurred was over a double yellow line and a hill crest.

While passing, the 2007 Hyundai Elantra reached the hill crest where it struck a westbound 1986 Chevrolet Pickup truck, which was driven by Richard A. Sasack, 23 of Akins Road, North Royalton.

Lopiccolo Sr. received minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released.

Sasack was transported to South West General Hospital with moderate injuries.

Also in the Hyundai Elantra were four other occupants, Chase Dupratt, 18, Danny A.
Cuellar, 17, Ryan Hoffer, 16, and Spencer McCoy, 17. All are from Olmsted
Falls and all are students who attend Olmsted Falls High School.

The occupants ere all transported to Metro Health Systems with serious injuries with the exception of McCoy, who only suffered minor injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
