Masterson masterful once again, as Indians keep streak alive

Cleveland (WOIO) - Justin Masterson did something on Monday that an Indians pitcher hadn't done since 1989, tossing his second complete-game shutout of the season, as the Indians shut down and shut out the New York Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader, 1-0 at Progressive Field.

The last Indians pitchers to record two complete-game shutouts in a season were Bud Black and Greg Swindell, both in '89.

Jason Kipnis provided the lone run for the Tribe, blasting a solo home run in the first inning off David Phelps.

The win was the Indians' 13th in their past 15 games, giving them solo possession of first place in the American League Central.
