Gloria Pointer's mother and dozens of supporters came out to celebrate the teenager's life Tuesday night.
The gathering took place at the school Gloria was walking to the day she disappeared.
Prayers were said for 14-year-old who was found beaten to death back in December 1984, "But mostly Lord God we just continue that you would give strength unto the Pointer family. That you would speak to them in the midnight hour."
DNA testing led to the arrest of Hernandez Warren, 58, who has been charged with aggravated murder.
Gloria's mother, Yvonne Pointer, led a silent walk from the school her daughter attended and then many placed teddy bears on the ground in her memory.
Yvonne said she wanted to send the message that she's alive and well despite the tragedy.
She showed a sense of humor after noting the recent discovery of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight. "I think it's just our season for miracles. I would say to the Indians...Go Tribe. If God is showing miracles, maybe the Cavs getting ready to win. I mean, hey, this is the city's year for miracles," says Yvonne.
She also said she hopes other unsolved cases are soon solved.
