Cleveland Marathon security in 2013

You got to wonder after experiencing the attack at the Boston Marathon why Isaiah Douglas, who's from Savannah, Georgia, who ran in Boston would even consider running along with 20,000 people in Sunday's Rite Aide Cleveland Marathon.

35 minutes slower in Boston and Douglas might be dead.

Isaiah Douglas says "Yes I was shocked cause the left side where the bomb went off I was sprinting to the finish line."

Cleveland cops have studied the attack in Boston.  Security is beefed up.  You can also use the new iPhone app called iWatch Northeast Ohio.

A women in the i-Phone app says " I single report can prevent a terrorist attack."

If you see something suspicious... you can text in a tip to the cops.

Commander Harold Pretel of the Cleveland Police Department says "The public is our biggest intel feed room with various models.  If we can detect it, we can disrupt it.  That is the key here."

The runners we are meeting near the race route are happy with the pre-marathon security in Cleveland.

Tim Riggle of Broadview heights is running on Sunday and says "I don't have any concern with the security. Looks like they took measures to make sure everyone is safe down here."

Rich Engel of Ontario, Canada is racing too.  He says "I certainly see a presence. The guys in black keeping an eye on things so that's comforting to see."

Cleveland cops can't get into details on their security detail but more than 100 police officers are on board... These guys do know how to staff big time events.  It isn't their first rodeo.
