Couple, children injured in car vs buggy crash

BLOOMINGGROVE TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

A family injured when their horse-drawn buggy collided with a truck in Richland County.

The accident happened on Baseline Road in Bloominggrove Township on Thursday around 4:15 p.m.

The 16-year-old driver of the truck was traveling eastbound on Baseline Road and the driver of the buggy was traveling southbound on Edwards Road. The buggy was pulled from the intersection to travel south onto Swanger Road, and pulled into the path of the truck. The buggy traveled off the east side of Swanger Road. Two adults and three children were ejected from the buggy.

The 28-year-old buggy driver, his 27-year-old passenger and three young children were rushed to Med Central Hospital in Mansfield. Two of the children were later transported to Akron Children's Hospital. No word on conditions at this time 

No charges have been filed and alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
