The sound track for Indians fans right now should consist of one song- Tom Petty's "The Waiting Is the Hardest Part." Waiting for this slump to end is killing us. It is absolutely excruciating to watch the kind of baseball Tribe fans have seen the last week. The only comforting thing about it is that you know it will end at some point. In the mean time we settle in every single day to seemingly watch the exact same game over and over. They get down 4-1, they can't get a big hit, they're one play away from something, and then they lose. The only thing missing from this baseball version of Groundhog Day is Bill Murray dropping a toaster in the ice tub in the clubhouse.
This was bound to happen. Why? Because it happens to every team at some point in the year, you just don't notice because you don't watch other teams 162 times. At some point of every season every team will go through a stretch where they look like absolute garbage. As a fan, you cannot give into it and give up. Oh feel free to change the station for a few innings or take a night or two off from the team, that's not what I mean. By giving up, I mean to think "their season is over." It's June, they're 5.5 games out of first. It's not the end of the world.
